Set up static IP Address during Ubuntu Server installation

This article is a quick walk through on how to set up a static IP address during the Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS installation. There will be also another article demonstrating on how to change the IP address manually after the server installation has be done with DHCP IP address.

At some point during the Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS installation you will be asked to configure your network settings and you should be seeing something similar to the following.

Use the cursor keys on your keyboard and navigate to the network adapter. In my case it is called “ensp0s3”, select it and hit enter.

After hitting enter you should see a little context menu navigate down to “Edit IPv4” and hit enter.

Once again use the cursor keys and navigate to “Automatic (DHCP) and hit enter.

In the context menu navigate to “Manual” and hit enter.

Now enter your IP Address information and navigate to “Save” and hit enter.

This now concludes the static IP Address set up during the Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS installation process. Hope you find it useful and if you do or not please leave me a note.
