Insert the DVD, boot from it, make your language selection and select “Install Ubuntu Gnome.

It is also recommended to select “Erase Disk” to install a fresh Ubuntu Gnome installation.

Write all changes back o the disk.

Select your desired Timezone

Select your desired Keyboard Layout

Provide Computer and User information

Now the installation is in progress.

In order to complete the installation the system needs to restart.

Remove the installation Media

After the restart log on to the new installed system.

Now this is special for Ubuntu Gnome. It starts out with a Welcome configuration wizard.

It asks you again to make you choice what keyboard layout you like to use.

Make your privacy selection

Add Online Accounts like Facebook , Google etc.

This concludes the Welcome configuration wizard.

Here again this is another helpful “Getting Started” resource. It offers some Videos and howtos.

Your Desktop provides a Application menu which is names “Activities” here. When you click on it, it provides you Favorite Application to your left and virtual desktops on your right.

After you clicked on the Dotted Icon on bottom left it provides you with all available applications.

On the top right there is the “System Controls” which is combines with Logon/Logoff, Shutdown, Audio Controls and Networking Controls as well as System settings. Play around and you might like this nicely designed desktop environment.

After clicking on the shutdown button you will see the following controls.
