Hello my Linux Yogi’s
in this illustration I will walk you through the installation of Linux Mint 18.1 (Mate) in easy to follow steps. Linux Mint 18.1 was release in December 2016 and is available as 32 and 64 bit. Download the ISO file from https://www.linuxmint.com/ and burn a DVD with it.
Insert the DVD and boot from it. The CD boots into a Live CD environment.

The Live CD Linux Mint Desktop. Click on the icon “Install Linux Mint” to start the installation.

The installer starts up and you have to select your desired language.

Check the option right here to receive latest hardware support during the installation.

Erase the disk for a clean install

Write the changes back to disk

Select your timezone

Select your Keyboard layout

Provide Computer & User information

The installation is now in progress

Installation is finished and the system needs to be restarted.

After system reboot the logon screen appears

This is your Desktop after first logon.

Linux Mint presents a Welcome Screen with help and information.

In the bottom left corner is the Application Menu

Click on the Control Center here you can make system adjustments

In the bottom right corner is the Date and Time controls

next of it is the Volume Control

next of that is the Networking Controls

After you clicked on the Power Icon in the Application Menu you will see the following to either “Restart”, “Shutdown”, “Hibernate” or “Suspend”
