Hello my Linux Yogi’s
in this illustration I will walk you through the installation of Linux Mint 18.1 (Cinnamon) in easy to follow steps. Linux Mint 18.1 was release in December 2016 and is available as 32 and 64 bit. Download the ISO file from https://www.linuxmint.com/ and burn a DVD with it.
Insert the DVD and boot from it.

It boots right into the Live CD Linux Mint Desktop. Click on the “Install Linux Mint” in order to start the installation.

The installer starts and you need to select your desired language.

Check this box in order to receive latest hardware support during the installation.

Erase the disk for a clean installation.

Write the changes back to the disk

Select your desired Timezone

Select your desired Keyboard Layout

Provide Computer & User information

The installation is in progress

The installation is finished and required restart

Remove the installation media

After the restart the system boots up and you can log on.

After the logon Linux Mint shows the Mint Welcome screen which provides help and information.

In the bottom left corner is the Application Menu

When you click on the “Gear” Icon on your left in the Application Menu you will see the System Settings.

In the bottom right corner is the Date and Time Controls

Next one over is the Audio Controls

Next one is the Networking Controls

and the last one is the System Menu to Shutdown, Restart or Log out.

After you clicked on Power Off you see the following to shutdown, restart, hibernate or suspend the system.

This now concludes the installation of Linux Mint 18.1 (Cinnamon). As you have seen it is fairly simple to install. If you liked this illustration or not feel free to leave a comment. If you like to see specific articles use my Contact Form and tell me about it.
