Hello my Linux Yogi’s
in this illustration I will walk you through the installation of Debian 8.7.x in easy to follow steps. Debian 8.7.x is available as 32 and 64 bit. Download the ISO file from http://debian.org and burn a DVD with it.
Insert the DVD, boot from it and select Graphical installation.
Select your language
Select your Location
Select your Keyboard Layout
Loading additional installer components
Enter Computer name
Enter the domain name
Enter a Root User password
Enter a Account Name
Enter the username for that account
Enter the password for the username
Select your timezone
Select partitioning type
Select disk to partition
Select partition style
Check and confirm your partitioning choices
Write those changes to disk
Base system installation in progress
deselect CD Repositories
and select network repositories
Choose location for your repositories
Select repository source
Provide Proxy Server address if used otherwise leave empty.
Configuring Package Manager
Participation of Package Survey. It’s your choice.
Select additional packages if desired but default selection will work for the most part.
Installation of additional packages in progress.
Install boot loader Grub.
Select Disk to install Grub on.
Finish the installation
Reboot system and let it boot up
Log on as the user you set up during installation
This is your Desktop
In the top left corner is the Activities Menu where you can select either from your favorites or on the bottom left you can pick from all available applications. On the left hand side in the Activities Menu is the Desktop Workspace selector. By default you have 2 Workspaces available.
In the top right corner is the System Controls where you can change the volume, log on or off, change network settings or change system settings.
In the System Controls the Tools icon is for the System settings.
And when you click on the Power icon you can Power Off or restart this workstation.
